Forging is a manufacturing process involving the shaping of metal using localized compressive forces. The blows are delivered with a hammer or a die. Forgings are made
by forcing materials into customized shapes either by the force of a falling ram upon
an anvil or by a die press enclosing a piece of metal and squeeze-forming the part.
The machine forging process, combined with forging materials such as carbon steel, alloys,
and micro alloyed steel, can impart superior metallurgical properties applicable to a wide
range of uses.
